Mr. Paulson has a long and varied and career in the membrane filtration and water purification industry as a successful technology developer and market builder. Osmonics was a major pioneer in both membrane technology and its applications in water purification, waste treatment and manufacturing processes. Serving 18 years as Director Corporate Research & Development, Paulson was instrumental in developing and promoting its broad technology base. His group developed scores of new products and applications, including new uses in medical, pharmaceutical, food and potable water processing. Mr. Paulson is expert in design and performance characterization of membrane and filter products, and led Osmonics in the design of component products, test devices, machines and hybrid systems. His group also developed specialized products, test methodologies, laboratory procedures and system designs for critical grade water applications and microbe removal capabilities. Mr. Paulson was also charged with corporate intellectual property management and supervised the legal support in the acquisition and defense of intellectual property (patents, trademarks, trade secrets and licenses) and the IP component of joint ventures, and mergers and acquisition Activity. He is well grounded in intellectual property law.

He has current expertise on global regulations for products and applications in the fields of potable water, pharmaceutical/biotechnology and food processing. As Global Product Stewardship Leader for GE Water, he managed product certification to WQA and NSF standards, pioneered methods for compliance of products to European and Pacific Rim regulations for food and potable water safety.

Mr. Paulson has an ongoing interest in technology standardization, product certification, research consortia and regulations. He served as Osmonics corporate liaison to government agencies, universities, standards authorities and industrial interest groups. He structured and managed licenses, partnerships and joint research programs with universities and major corporations. He designed an industrial standards program, and served as Principal Investigator and Business Manager for a federal grant for new technology development. He is an invited contributor to US EPA and US Bureau of Reclamation strategic initiatives on US water policy.

His current expertise in regulatory compliance is on a global basis for products and applications in the fields of potable water, pharmaceutical/biotechnology and food processing. GE Water appointed him Global Product Stewardship Leader for all component products and systems. The author of over 35 technical papers, Mr. Paulson has presented at a variety of national and international venues. He has lectured and conducted training seminars at universities and professional symposia, and has served as peer reviewer for scientific journals and the US EPA guidance manual on applying membrane technology to the Safe Drinking Water Act.
Mr. Paulson has a degree in counseling psychology and has extensive continuing education in technology, project management, executive leadership, regulatory and intellectual property law. He is a past member of seven professional groups, has served on Water Quality Association and National Sanitation Foundation technical committees, and is a current member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and the American Water Works Association. He serves as co-Chair of the ASTM membrane subcommittee.
